I’ve just stumbled on Konfabulator. An absolute gem for Mac OS X fans. Script up desktop widgets to do “just about anything”. The eye-candy is drop-dead gorgeous. Mmmm. 
It embeds nicely into the desktop, so cranking up an ical plugin, for example, enables you to have your todo list on display. Other plugins include a neat Airport indicator, weather indicator, and so on. Check out the screenshots to see just how good this thing looks.
