Kuro5hin has an interesting, and tempting, solution to all the stress that seems to be implicit at Christmas these days.
I’m not about to sign up myself, so family and friends needn’t worry on that score. But it seems Christmas is becoming more and more commercial, even over the last few years (or am I saying that since I’ve passed the 30 year-old mark?). The article is an interesting read, and is certainly food for thought.
I’ve a private vendetta (well, boycott) now against Boots, as they appear to be the first of the high street stores to be start advertising Christmas presents in early/mid October. And my local Sainsburys started stocking Christmas crackers at about the same time.
As my better half pointed out, we’ve got Halloween and Guy Fawkes to enjoy before we get close to thinking about Christmas.
In all of this, I have to say that Gatwick airport takes the biscuit. They have christmas decorations all over the North Terminal departure lounge right now.
Bah. Humbug. At least, Bah until mid/late November, in my book.
