Currently in Queenstown, taking in the views and resisting the very slight temptation to jump off a large height with a piece of rubber around my legs. Certainly the scenary here is wonderful with lakes and mountains and sunsets making for more mountainous photos to add to our collection.
Some concerns for the latter part of our trip. Friends and family have pointed out the news of violence in the south of Thailand, which we’d been planning on travelling through in late June. Any comments readers might have about what’s going on there would be much appreciated: It’s being poorly reported in the NZ newspapers and TV news which is dominated by Maori politics and the shearing of Shrek the Merino sheep (which is amusing to watch and read though!).
Anyway, we’re off now to see Arrowtown, and gradually head north towards Franz Josef Glacier for a spot of hiking. Heli-hikes are tempting, but Frances isn’t so keen, so we may just hang about in the lower reaches. It’s then further north towards Greymouth and Arthur’s pass.
Oh, and feel free to send e-mails to us. We’re always delighted to read news from friends and family alike. You know our e-mail addresses, or just post a comment here if you’d rather.

Good to have someone out there bringing us links to the really important worldwide news such as Shrek’s haircut. Enjoyed that. And the idea of a flatulance tax.

Hola,
FYI…I’m enjoying living vicariously through your fab travels. Keep up your great descriptions, they’re never the same if you don’t write them down immediately.
I haven’t noticed, have you not come across any bugs that you’d rather not have?
