I still have mixed feelings about Lost, so I’m approaching next week’s series finale with a mixture of relief and excitement. On the one hand, I’ll be pleased to see the resolution of a few plot-lines, and no doubt frustrated by plenty of teasers for the next series that’s currently showing in the US.
At it’s best, it’s doing remarkably well at keeping the interest going, revealing just enough to keep you interested, but not enough to reveal the entire scope. At it’s worst, it’s a poor, slowly, very repetitive and (ironically) rather predictable drama.
Much like, I suspect, every viewer I do have a pet-theory as to what’s happening, the main one occurred to me after just a couple of episodes, given away by the “Bad robot” ident at the end (It wouldn’t be the first programme to name one of the production companies after their great idea): The island is a research facility with awol robots/experiments. I’m sure they’ll mess with the premise enough to cast that theory into doubt, but anyway, there it is in black and, er, green. That or it’s some rubbishy “bermuda triangle” premise, for which I’ll have to hit someone in the production team very hard.
Anyway, next week we’ll be glued to our seats watching the back-to-back episodes. Whether or not we’ll tune in to series two is yet to be seen….
