… like a Glaswegian scorned.
Not an auspicious start this. We were expecting our kitchen fitting to start today. Indeed, we were up late last night clearing everything out in preparation for it all, and Frances has taken a day off work especially.
Expecting it to start today as well would seem to be the kitchen cabinet supply company, the skip delivery people, and the company delivering our taps, all of whom turned up today with their various wares. All arranged through the kitchen company. Unfortunately, the person who seemed oblivious to this was the project manager of the company we chose to install the kitchen and – at a guess – arranged all these deliveries.
Frances has been around to the shop and made clear her displeasure, and I’m glad she’s on my side here. She rarely shows any outward negative emotions, but when she does it’s very calm, controlled and, well, very very effective. There has been a little, somewhat reluctant, apology of this fundamental scheduling screw up. Some sort of implication that it had been agreed with us a few weeks back flies in the face of everything else that has gone on.
Ah well. We’ve saved making too much of it, as the actual installation is – of course – still pending. But it’s not a great start…

[...] All in all, it’s not good. Frances’ mum has been deployed to help calm nerves, but conveniently the designer/owner of the company we used is elsewhere, and not available – as he promised he would be. After the inauspicious start, especially when you read my musings on who to use, and how it’s turning out. [...]

We used Dans Le Cuisine in October to install our new kitchen. The kitchen looks good and we are mostly happy with it. HOWEVER, there were number of issues: we had to harrass the project manager/owner for a written contract, he finally gave us one on the day the workmen finished and some of the details were wrong. The specification we had agreed with the original kitchen designer was not what he tried to install (wrong shelving and missing shelving) we held back some of the final payment until the correct shelves were installed. 3 of the 4 drawers installed came loose or fell off there mountings, when the wife phoned for help no-one ever got back to us, fixed it myself. Needed help to source a damaged kitchen light, no return call, found it myself in cotterals. Poor aftersales leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Wouldn’t recommend.
