Crumbs. This month is the fifth anniversary of my first post to what eventually became this website. I originally registered leyton.org in September 2000, but didn’t do very much with it at first: It was purely a holding page after I bought it, when I realised it was the last major leyton domain name still available: Bizarrely, leyton.com was a company in the US that sold hats…

Anyway, as you can see from the monthly archives, things slowly picked up as I started doing more than just putting up ‘useful’ things, and started putting up more thoughts, opinions, links, rambles and rants. Whilst my techie weblog has been rather quiet of late (work and personal goings on are getting the better of me), I still get a lot of traffic to various ’solutions’ I’ve put up to problems I’ve encountered, so feel in some way at least that it’s of use beyond the soap box much of the rest of it is.

Feel free to take a wander through the archives – It’s certainly interesting to see what I was up to or thinking about: June 2004, we were travelling in Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand, June 2003, I hated Connex, Booked tickets to see Eddie Izzard, and re-read Animal Farm. Last but by no means least, my first weblog posting from January 2002…

Whilst I’ve never really kept a diary (other than during our travels), I still feel it’s something of an achievement that the site is still trundling along, that I post reasonably regularly (though not regularly enough I fear), and you folk are reading it out of choice (I hope!). Finally, and whilst it’s really mainly a hobby of sorts, I do feel my writing has improved immeasurably since. So not all a waste of time as some might argue :-)

Richard, Congratulations on making it five years. I’ve been an avid reader since those early days and enjoy keeping up to date on the goings on (and rants) of good friend who I catch up with occasionally when our paths cross. Keep up the good work, especially on your new server :)
