The Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is one of Glasgow’s biggest attractions, and a very well respected establishment. Unfortunately for me, it’s been closed almost all the time we’ve been living in Glasgow, so I’ve not yet been able to go, which – having heard so much about it – makes me feel I’ve missed out on something quite special.
The good news is, then, that the museum is re-opening on Tuesday after being closed for extensive refurbishment for the last few years. I’m certainly looking forward to going and visiting it to see what it’s all about. Glasgow is well stocked with museums and art galleries, and this is one I’m very excited about seeing. I’m also very lucky to have the similarly famous Burrell collection right on my door step!
There are some interesting stories about the building, which is certainly one of Glasgows most famous. It’s rumoured to have been built “the wrong way around”, although this is a myth brought about by how most people get in to the building.
