The new series of Doctor Who is shaping up nicely, and is grasping various hot-topic nettles, and not backing away from scariness for such a prime-time family slot. People dying simply because they turned up to a champagne and canapĂ© launch and didn’t run is refreshing in a grim way. Nice it’s not become A-team not-shooting-anybody silliness. I was a bit disappointed by the recent Dalek two-parter. All just seemed rather muddled to be honest.
For some reason ‘The Master‘ remains one of my favourite Doctor Who bad-guys, and that’s been my not-so-subtle theory since the ‘Face of Bo’ comment about The Doctor ‘not being alone’, and the mysterious character in the Lazarus episode that was recently screened. Indeed, after the Daleks, The Master was a hope for the first two series, but the writers seemed happy with more well-known cybermen vs Dalek plots that were just a bit too “end-of-the-universe-as-we-know-it” for my liking.
