On approaching work today, along New Bridge Street outside of Blackfriars station, I was struck by the site of some workmen merrily smoking cigarettes and putting up some more hoarding in preparation to dig another hole.
It wouldn’t be such a problem, other than the fact that there have been two holes outside the post office there for over a month…
Turns out this new hole is (apparently) regretfully there because of Transport for London street services or some such… Well, as the existing holes have very shaky coverings, and can’t be suitable for the thousands of people risking life and limb crossing over every day, I’ve had a word.
Who knows. They might actually do something constructive, other than dig more holes, smoke cigarettes, and tut about the rain.
