Some time last month, I began mulling over what this place on the web is about. I’ve continued to give it some thought, and have decided to take some action in the next few days.

The problem, I’ve felt, is that this page kind of mixes the two sides of me. My techy interests - which kind of coincide with my work interests, and my personal interests, which ranges from food, to reading, to politics.

As such, I think the best thing to do is split the site into personal and work content. That way, friends can read what I’m interested in - and that in itself can develop in it’s own way, and my technical musings can develop in its own way too.

My technical interests kind of boil down to Open source advocacy, Database systems, and general directions in IT (Grid, Utility computing, Agility), so I think that in itself works as a general theme. Quite what to call it, if anything other than technical musings - which is what it’d be - remains to be seen.

And /dev/rant will morph into leyton’s life log (LLL?) , again for want of a better name. It’s not really ranting much these days.

Depending on the time I get, I’ll start working on these changes from now onwards, and see how things go. But I think the split makes sense, enables more of an identity to be built, unless the disarray makes sense. Somehow I think not.

And the aim of it all? Well, everybody likes people to visit their websites, but it’s nice to have coherence and consistency, something I think has been lacking somewhat so far. And a name like /dev/rant doesn’t help matters.

Comments, as ever, are welcome.
