With a by-election happening in Hartlepool in the next few months, it’s refreshing to see that the Lib-Dem candidate has fired up a weblog, in addition to a local policy website. With the candidate herself doing the writing, I hope it’s minimal on spin and has plenty of personal thoughts and experience.
It’s a shame that my previous MP, Bridget Prentice is a good example of how NOT to keep an online website interesting, redirecting you to press-releases rather than more personal content and thoughts.
Personally, as a constituent, I think it’s important to know what they’ve been up to, and what they think (I’ve been here before). It’d help shed the party-machine image many MP’s now have. Independent thought? Wossat?
So, watching a by-election and reading about a serious candidates thoughts will be very interesting, and one to follow.
