Readers may recall my previous message about the new buses on the 73 route, and how my friend Jon Knowles has been a vocal critic for some time.
Well, I’m pleased to say that - in true Jon form - he has taken some action, and has contacted both Arriva and Transport for London. He’s now putting together a weblog called The Man on the 73 omnibus to document his progress in raising his concerns, and increasing public awareness, in the hope that the problems he highlights will be addressed.
Jon’s writing is - as ever - compelling, and - I find - an extremely readable account of the serious issues that are faced. One of the not altogether unsurprising facts he has already uncovered is the fact that Arriva PR types have not yet travelled on the 73, despite talking as if they have. So we’re faced with a PR publicity exercise that is based on what they’re hearing from sycophants in TfL and Arriva. Scarier is the treatment of disabled passengers by bus drivers, confined to their cabs.
It’s definately a weblog to keep track of (and publicise). The start of some well targeted activisim by a vocal London commuter. So pay a visit to 73omnibus.blogspot.com.

Richard,
Thanks for the kind words and the plug. It’s good to be blogging again, particularly for such a worthy endeavour.
Thanks again.

I used to travel on the 73 between Shepherd’s Bush/Hammersmith and Islington, I think.
I’d be glad if they kept a few buses like that rather than scrapping them altogether.
