Browsing around the excellent River Cottage website I came across a link to bigbarn.co.uk, a super little site that helps you locate local food producers and farmers markets around the country. I love visiting Farmers’ markets for the variety and quality of the food produce, and haven’t been able to since moving to Glasgow simply because I had no idea where to start (nor have I had the time to date, to be honest).
Sure enough, I’ve discovered that there’s a nearby farmers’ market in Queen’s Park, Glasgow, on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month (map). Watch this space for more detail. There’s another in Mansfield Park for those North of the River, on the 2nd and 4th Saturday (map).

[...] There was then the obligatory BBQ at the end of it all with some local produce from the Glasgow Farmers Market, which we’d managed to pick up on our trip to the DIY shop. Frances even picked up a slightly surprised, and very ugly looking fish on her trip to the supermarket for a few odds and sods, which was suitably pointy, prickly and in need of gutting, but was none the less a treat to eat. It’s name eludes me right now. [...]
