Keep your fingers crossed for us. After a marathon amount of deliberation and thinking about the various issues, we’ve made a decision to bid for a flat (mentioned previously), and have arranged for our (gulp) third survey. At £500 a shot, it’s easy to amass quite a bit of a survey aversion. The solicitor we’re using advised us that there is a discount offered after three surveys, and more still after seven - which isn’t entirely uncommon!
I don’t want to say too much at this point, given our names are known to the vendor, estate agent and so on, and that we haven’t formally agreed terms yet, but we’re certainly hopeful that things will come to some sort of conclusion later this week. It’s a fixed price property, and we’ve mooted a figure to the vendors, so it’s a little different to the normal “offers over” setup, and we have (we understand) a clear run on the place. Once terms are agreed, I’ll write a bit more about the place!
With some luck - which it’s probably fair to think we’re due after a year of looking - we might be in the place possibly as early as June or early July, which is even realistic given the vendor has their eye on a few places in the vicinity.
We’re certainly hoping we’ll soon be able to offer friends and family a place to stay up here!
