The Herald reports that tomorrow sees the first humanist wedding in the UK, under new rules here in Scotland. This is distinct from a civil wedding in that it’s a ceremony with legal standing, on a par with religious weddings that occur every day in Churches around the country. No separate civil marriage ceremony, or religion, is required.

It’s a great step forward for the those wanting a non-religious wedding, as argued for by the British Humanist Association. It will hopefully open up a lot more possibilities for those planning weddings…

Of course, the best of luck to the couple tomorrow, and for their future lives together!
