Whilst the eyes of the country may be on the Grand National this afternoon, tomorrow my thoughts will be with my friend Martin, who is running in the 2006 Paris Marathon

Martin is running to raise funds for his late niece’s foundation – The Rebecca McNie Foundation (Website is due soon I understand). I’ve donated some money, and intend to send a bit more in the next week or two through my company, which strives to donate about 5% of profits to charities. Most recently I’ve been directing donations to smaller charities and organisations, such as this, rather than the large national charities who get a lot of public attention and support, sometimes to the detriment of more local organisations.

More on the foundation after the jump, but I’m wishing Martin all the very best. And if you’re lucky enough to back the winner this afternoon, perhaps a small donation?

In memory of Rebecca whose love of life and drive to achieve her utmost on the sporting field and the stage provides the inspiration behind a foundation that aims to support similarly minded, young adults in their pursuit of success in sports and the Performing Arts.

The Rebecca McNie Foundation (Registered Charity No. 1108739) has already supported the following:

  • A gifted contemporary dancer attend the Laban Dance School - (£500)
  • An outstanding swimmer attend Millfield School - (£500)
  • £500 to the Italia Conti School towards a scholarship fund
  • £1000 to St Edmund’s School in Canterbury to help develop sports and the Performing Arts
  • £500 to Deal Tri Club, for the development of their youth section
  • If you would like to know more about the charity, please consult their website at http://www.rebeccamcniefoundation.org or send a self-addressed envelope to the address below.

The Foundation needs as much support as it can get to help the disadvantaged but gifted achieve their dreams, and would be grateful for any pledges for donations and sponsorship. If you are based in the UK, please could you send any cheques in pounds, made out to The Rebecca McNie Foundation, to:

The Rebecca McNie Foundation, C/o Mr & Mrs Symon McNie, 52 St Leonard’s Rd, Deal, Kent, CT14 9AU

Any amount will be more than welcome…

One Response to “Good luck Martin!”

      Hi there
Just to let you know - Rebecca’s website is at

      http://www.rebeccamcniefoundation.org.uk

there was a glitch with the .org domain, so if you could change the link that would be much better (currently it goes nowhere).
