As The BBC reports, this is a big weekend for Glasgow. We’re close enough to Hampden that we’ll see some folk walking to the Robbie Williams concerts there, and the rail service that serves us (The Cathcart circle) also serves one of the stations close to Hampden Park, so the trains will be busy in the build up. I’m surprised the international football is taking place at Celtic Park rather than Hampden, but I suppose the international fixtures aren’t necessarily known as far in advance as a music concert. As with the England team, I actually think it’s better that international fixtures take place around the entire country, so that fans who wouldn’t perhaps be able to make it to the national stadium can get along and see the match.
My friend Keith is going to be one of the 20,000 runners in The Great Scottish Run, which goes past us after it exits Pollok park, and turns to head back into Glasgow. Whilst Keith is running for the challenge, I’m going to pop down to the end of the road and try and lend him and everybody else, a bit of moral support at what I suspect is a tough part of the race!
So here’s wishing Keith all the best tomorrow!
