I spent a few hours last night and earlier this morning sending out an update about my half-marathon progress. It’s reproduced below just in case any readers didn’t receive it.

With now less than a month to go until the race, it’s really starting to loom large. I’m pleased to say I’m really quite excited about it, and the training is going very well indeed. I’m feeling very comfortable with increased distances and mileage, and my overall well-being.

As I write this I’ve just noticed that the amount raised has ticked over the £1,000 barrier. Super stuff. I’m really hoping that the £1,500 target is something I can now reach. Remember, my company is matching donations, and with tax being reclaimed on top of that, it could well amount to over £3,000 for a very worthwhile charity.

Just incase it’s not abundantly clear, a huge thankyou to everybody who has donated so far. It’s really very much appreciated. I always worry that my reminders sound more like nagging, and that my thanks aren’t coming through!

I just wanted to send out a bit of an update about my Glasgow half-marathon progress, where I’m aiming to raise sponsorship money for The Prostate Cancer Charity, and awareness of a condition that kills one man every hour in the UK alone. It’s hugely treatable, but charities like this need our support.

So my race raising money for them is now only a month away, on the 2nd September, 2007.

Firstly, the good news - Thanks to everybody’s generosity I’ve more than met my initial £500 sponsorship target. As I write this - with only a month to go until the race - I’ve already raised £879.20! So I’m now aiming for £1,500 to keep up the challenge!

So if you haven’t already sponsored me, the best and most tax-efficient way is here:

Or just give me a call or drop me a note and I’ll be happy to try and find a way to help.

My training is going well. I’ve managed a few 10 mile training runs, and even one half-marathon distance training run. Of course race day itself will have 20,000 others at the same time, and the weather is always going to be a factor.

In July I ran a total of 151km, that’s 94miles, which is very roughly the distance between my home village of Priddy (Somerset) and London. Since the start of this year, I’ve run 524km (325 miles), which is about 3/4 of the way between Priddy and Glasgow!

Anyway, details as ever on my website, and if you’ve already donated, I wanted to say a huge thankyou.

It’s really very much appreciated.

Thanks again,

Richard
